Energy and Emissions: Notre Dame's Sustainability Goals

-

Location: 129 DeBartolo Hall

In September 2016, the University of Notre Dame announced an ambitious sustainability plan that resulted in a Comprehensive Sustainability Strategy to eliminate the use of coal, increase the use of renewables and recoverable energy sources, improve energy conservation in buildings, and decrease harmful emissions. Leading this effort is Paul Kempf (’80), assistant vice president for utilities and maintenance. In this talk, Kempf will provide an update on Notre Dame’s progress to-date on improving energy conservation measures, reducing carbon emissions, and recent ventures into solar, hydro, and geothermal energy.
