Eating Animals: The Ethics, Sustainability and Nutrition of Meat

-

Location: LaFortune Student Center Ballroom

The Notre Dame Student Government Department of Sustainability is partnering with Campus Dining and Campus Ministry to encourage the student body to go beef free during Lent. Their Beef Free ND initiative will kick off with a panel discussion featuring Professor Christian Smith, professor of sociology; Karen Sommers, chair of the Michiana VegFest; Conor Fay, member of Notre Dame's Herbivore Society; and Alexander Kuptel, member of Student Government's Department of Sustainability. The panelists will discuss meat consumption from theological, sociological, and environmental perspectives and dissect the nutritional value of meat in comparison to more sustainable, plant-based alternatives. Join us on March 16th to better understand the role and implications of meat production and consumption in today's society, as well as learn more about the Department of Sustainability's Beef Free ND initiative!
